Since starting his career as a district representative in sales management at Procter & Gamble , John B. Richards has garnered over two decades of experience in senior executive positions in both public and private business. He has specialized in providing strategic direction and brand-building in various service sectors, including hospitality and consumer foods, as both an executive and a consultant. John B. Richards served on the board of a company called Life Time Fitness.

Headquartered in Minnesota, Life Time Fitness is primarily a health, fitness, and wellness company that was started in 1992. Following the philosophy that knowing your body and nourishing it with the right food and appropriate exercise will lead to a healthy life, the company offers individual services to ensure long-term wellness for its clients. Spread over 26 states and 35 major markets in the US, the company operates 122 centers. 

Apart from regular fitness services, Life Time Fitness commits to giving back to the community. One way is through its Life Time Foundation. The main objective of the foundation is to provide healthy food to children through its school food programs. It provisions grants and subsidies to fund a wide range of activities, from buying natural or non-processed food to purchasing kitchen utensils. In 2017-18, the foundation plans to serve about 50 million healthy meals to 550,000 children in 660 schools in the US.
